n another airline article in Apple News we find this dazzling display of ignorance:

“The more bags you handle, the more bags you lose. That’s just math,” Mann said.

That’s not “just math.” Air carriers have been ferrying paying passengers for nearly 100 years. It is total irresponsibility and stupid logistics managers that is to blame for the utter lazy attitude and total lack of responsibility by airline management and disregard for creative thinking that nobody has taken the time to develop sensible and logistically rigorous baggage routing schemes that would reduce misrouted baggage.  Christ on a cross, freight shipping does this with with their container logistics. Even railroads have been shipping people and freight all over for well over 100 years without statements as idiotic as the one above.

Why not permanently affix a QR or bar code to each piece of luggage at its point of sale. These are scanned wherever you check in and it is digitally associated with your boarding pass. The code is scanned as it is loaded into airline shipping containers that match the code’s ultimate destination. Each time you bag is handled, it is scanned – just like stuff you buy from Amazon.

It’s not that hard, really. ☕️
